A plataforma de Oxford que traz 350 cursos gratuitos em inglês

Iniciativa surgiu em 2008, e já tem mais de 21 milhões de downloads. Acesso e reprodução são gratuitos.

A Universidade de Oxford é uma das mais tradicionais do Reino Unido e do mundo. Fundada em 1.096, a instituição já teve alunos notáveis como o físico Stephen Hawking, o escritor J.R.R. Tolkien, o ex-presidente americano Bill Clinton e o atual primeiro-ministro britânico, Boris Johnson. Até 2019, Oxford acumulava 72 prêmios Nobel, em diferentes áreas do conhecimento.

Para difundir conhecimento produzido ali, a universidade criou uma plataforma online chamada Open Education. Nela, usuários podem encontrar cerca de 350 cursos, nos formatos de vídeos e podcasts, sobre os mais diferentes temas.

Bioética, fundamentos do pensamento crítico, análise literária da obra de William Shakespeare, os preceitos básicos do desenho artístico e os mecanismos psicológicos da depressão são alguns dos temas contemplados por cursos presentes na plataforma. Todas as aulas são em inglês.

Além de oferecer os cursos aos usuários, a universidade colocou todas as aulas sob licença de Creative Commons, o que significa que elas podem ser reproduzidas e redistribuídas gratuitamente, sem a necessidade de uma permissão, apenas com o compromisso de citar a fonte original do conteúdo.

A iniciativa começou em 2008 e já conta com mais de 5.500 horas de conteúdo, que contam com a participação de mais de 3.000 acadêmicos diferentes. Ao todo, a plataforma já tem mais de 21 milhões de downloads.
